Our visit to The Good Shepherd Home

Our class went on an outing to The Good Shepherd Home.
To me it was like a mission because we all had something very hard to manage.
We had a very nice time and I performed a song called on the Good Ship Lollipop sung by Sherlie Temple.
After that we all went around to people giving them gifts and telling them about our selves and what we do at Christmas.
I loved going to The Good Shepherd Home and having the chance to perform.
I felt proud to be part of the the Townsville Grammar Junior School

Haiku poetry

I have been recently writing and learning about Haiku Poetry. Haiku poetry is from the Japanese culture. Using words, you need to paint a picture and I have tried my best to write this Haiku poem on tap dancing. I have used onomatopoeia in my writing of this poem. The syllables for Haiku poetry have five syllables in the first line, seven syllables in the second line and another five syllables in the third line.

TAP DANCING

Tap, tap, tap goes me.
"Good, good, good" says my teacher
Tap, goes me again.

Onomatopoeia

We have been looking at onomatopoeia.
Onomatopoeia explains a sound like, boom, crash, plop and smash.
I wrote a song about it to remember what onomatopoeia is, and it goes like this:

Onomatopoeia, wouldn't want to be ya, here are some sounds you'll need to know.
Splish, slap, smash, splash, squish and squirt.
Onomatopoeia, wouldn't want to be ya, here are some sounds you'll need to know,
Ding, dong, crash and bong.
Don't forget these sounds:
Bang, sizzle, splish, splat, slap, smash, splash, squish, squirt, ding, dong, crash and bong!
Don't forget onomatopoeia.

Poems

Its Term 4 and I am now learning to write Poetry. I have just recently wrote a poem about a snail. Even know we have just started poetry I am really getting into it. We have also been learning about friends. What a friend should do to you and what you should do to a friend. Speaking about friends I'm loving this term because everyone is being friendly and nice to each other.

Myths and Legends

I have recently been learning about myths and legends. I had to make a folder on the activities that I did on 5 of the myths and legends that I had read.

My favourite myth and legend was A MERMAID AND A MAGIC COMB.

I had a choice one of of 15 activities to complete after I read each myth. Every myth I did I had to do a different activity.

These are the myths and legends that I read
1. The boy in the fire
2. The first murder
3. The Greeks go home
4. A mermaid and a magic comb
5. The monkey and the crocodile

Haundertwasser Art

This week we have been using pastels to do drawings of buildings that Hundertwasser designed.
Hundertwasser hated straight lines and always said ''straight lines is the devils tool''.
Hundertwaser always did colourful, bright buildings and loved using very shiny gold on the domes.
Using the pastals was very messy and I got quiet dirty but my picture turned out to be great.

Dancing sultanas and exploding canisters

This week I did 2 science experiments and they were called dancing
sultanas and exploding canisters.

Dancing sultanas
I put 7 sultanas in with a cup of 250 mills of 7 up and waited for about 7 seconds
and the sultanas were jumping up and down.
Then I put 7 sultanas in a cup of water and they didn't jump.
It wasn't very exciting.

Exploding canisters
I poured some vinegar in the canister and poured a little bit
of bicarb soda onto the lid and quickly turned it over and attached it onto
the canister and in only 1 second the lid exploded of again.
I had to try it a few to get it right.
